The School of Chinese Medicine, in collaboration with the Bauhinia Culture Holdings Limited, successfully held the "2025 Bauhinia International Chinese Medicine Summit - Hong Kong Baptist University Parallel Forum: Application of Artificial Intelligence in Chinese Medicine cum Inheritance and Innovation of Chinese Medicine" on 25 September at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The event attracted over 100 participants from Hong Kong, mainland China, and Cambodia, including government officials, industry professionals, academics, and corporate representatives, engaging in interdisciplinary exchanges both online and offline.
The forum was honored to have invited Mr. Ding Wei, Deputy General Manager of Bauhinia Culture Holdings Limited, Mr. Jia Zhongwu, Director of the Comprehensive Department of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NATCM), Professor Li Min, Dean of Chinese Medicine of HKBU, Mr. Yuan Jian, Chief Editor of Bauhinia Magazine, as well as Ms. Chen Shujuan, Deputy Director of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of NATCM, to officiate at the Opening Ceremony
In her opening remarks, Professor Li Min, highlighted the significance of the forum in fostering knowledge sharing among faculty, students and professionals in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, promoting the dissemination and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine culture, as well as exploring the potential of emerging technologies in driving its modernisation and internationalisation. Mr. Ding Wei emphasised the transformative role of artificial intelligence in analysing vast amounts of data and optimising prescriptions, with an ultimate purpose of better serving human wellbeing.
Chaired by Professor Chen Hubiao, Associate Director of the Teaching and Research Division, School of Chinese Medicine, a distinguished panel of six experts delivered keynote speeches, sharing cutting-edge insights and expertise on leveraging technology to drive the modernisation and internationalisation of Chinese medicine, research translation, and product development. The speakers included Dr. Youk Sambath, Secretary of State from the Ministry of Health of Cambodia; Dr. Liu Li, Deputy Director of the Central Research Institute, Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Holding Company Limited; Professor Zhang Hongjie, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) of Chinese Medicine, HKBU; Professor Lin Xingdong, President of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine; Professor Han Quanbin, School of Chinese Medicine, HKBU; and Ms. Yang Yizhao, Chinese medicine practitioner and Managing Director of Sanfeitang Company Limited.
